X-Clan and Pittsburgh's Hip-Hop community Unite for Haiti.

In their first show since reuniting to celebrate the 20 year anniversary of their Classic Hip-hop Album "To The East Black Wards", Legendary Hip-Hop group X-Clan joins with some of Pittsburgh's best and brightest Hip-Hop and Spoken Word artists to raise desperately needed funds for the earthquake ravaged country of Haiti.

Presented by The August Wilson Center for African American Culture, Thursday, January 28 from 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm, "Hip-Hop for Haiti" features X-Clan along with award winning Hip-hop Band Formula412, Jasiri X: creator of the groundbreaking Hip-hop news series "This Week With Jasiri X", National Slam Bush champion Vanessa German, International Songwriting Competition winner JAHI, award-winning poet, playwright and performing artist Dr. Goddess, award-winning actor and spoken word artist Ezra, revolutionary lyricist Sha-King, mind elevating MC Living Proofe and critically acclaimed Hip-Hop artist and producer Idasa Tariq with sounds provided by DJ Shade Cobain.

Tickets are a suggested donation of $10 or $5 dollars with any of the following items; baby wipes/wet wipes, buckets, non liquid soap, new and unused washcloths, toothpaste, toothbrushes, combs and brushes.

Tickets are available at the door.

All proceeds will go to Wyclef Jean's Yéle Haiti Foundation.

New Video "POWER"

This is the new video for "Power", off of the "Yellowseed" album and was directed by High Impact Designs MultiMedia. We shot the video in the remains and rubble of what used to be the East Hills Shopping Center on the Eastside of Pittsburgh in the area I grew up in. The rugged landscape complimented the grittiness of the song as well as of my music and the environment it was influenced by.

Borikuas on the set!

Yesterday was the Puerto Rican Day Parade in Nueva York... and while I've never attended in the physical, my heart truly has always been present amidst the crowd and the festivities. Many people do not understand why we as a people are so proud, despite our colonial relationship with the United States. And while I am not particularly a fan of slapping la bandera on any and everything, I understand that it s form of protest- whether conscious of subconscious. Our immense pride and the way we display it is a social and cultural protest against the condition placed on la isla and within the mindset of it's people. We wave our flags because unbeknownst to many, once America took over the island from the Spanish, it was illegal to do so. We, as all other colonized people, suffer from the depression and mental anguish of oppression, whether we admit it or not, it leaks through many of our people's ways and actions. We continuously kindle and perpetuate our pride as a form of intoxication, attempting to drink away the pain of a so-called commonwealth or territorial status. We adorn ourselves in the Puerto flag, as a form of resistance, to remind the United States, that despite the arrest of our people's liberation and being the only Latin American countries that has not won it's own freedom, yet, we are and will always be Borikuas before we are Americans.
